Lesson 2

In this lesson we got to try out different types of dance styles such as Bhangra or classical indian dance. In the beginning of the lesson we practiced our routine from the first lesson to refresh our memory and to teach the routine to the people who wern't here before.
After the class taught the dance to Sanita and Imma who missed our 1st lesson of Bollywood dancing because of College, we got into groups of 3-4 so we could explore different dance steps and add them into our routine. In my group, it was me, Sanita and Rajan. We were told to make up a 2 dance steps of 8 counts so we went on youtube and started to look up basic Bhangra steps. This was really interesting since i dont know much about any kind of indian dancing so getting to look up Bhangra dance was new to me. We went though a couple of videos before selecting our final two dance steps which was a mixture of Bollywood and Bhangra. I also got to find out the difference between the two which is that Bhangra is a lot more upbeat and jumpy whereas Bollywood dance is more precise and uses the hands and hips a lot more. We practiced it a couple of times before showing Miss Hainstock. Later when all the groups were finished we showed the whole class our 8 count routine which they learnt aswell. We didnt have time to watch the other groups dance steps which i was looking forward to but it was still a good lesson.
