Lesson 1- Line Dancing

In our 1st dance lesson we had Mr. Chapman who helped us start off our first line-dancing move. The two dance moves that we accomplished were the Tush Push and the Grape Vine. Mr. Chapman was such a good teacher he seamed like a professional. At first the dance moves seamed quite hard at first but soon as we had practiced it with the music (beat it y Michael Jackson) we were getting the hand of it and soon it became enjoyable. I think it was definitely a lot harder than Bollywood dancing but i think it was a lot more fun. Although during the lesson we were getting distracted, because we kept laughing at the others. In the first lesson we learnt the dance steps by using tutorials from you tube which I have posted on separate blogs. It was a lot harder learning them off you tube because they were going a lot faster whereas when Mr. Chapman taught us he went with our pace so we were able to keep up with him.

On the 2nd lesson we taught Mr. Hainstocks what we had done and she was very proud of us. In that lesson we practiced the whole thing a couple of times after making it perfect and then we started to put more dance moves together and then suddenly Miss andress came in and we showed her our performance and she applauded it. Soon we were able to go through the whole thing without making mistakes. It was a very exciting lesson as we were able to fuse Miss hainstocks ideas as well as the moves from you tube. I had a lot of fun in this lesson

Lesson 4

For our 4th Bollywood lesson, we got back into our groups from lesson 2 and practiced our dance routine to refresh our memory and while the other groups were getting ready we showed our routine to Miss Hainstock who then improved it in some places in oder for it to fit in with the beats of the song.
After all the groups were sorted, we took turns in showing each other our dance routine a couple of times also improving them along the way, and then when everyone was sure about what moves they were doing, we put everyones routine together and ran through it from begining to end.
I think it was good for us to see each others dances soo many times becuase it gave us a chance to learn everyones so when it came for us to dance each others rountine, we wouldnt need to waste soo much time learning each others becuase we would already have memorised some of the dance steps.  This was a fun lesson because we got to share out ideas and see what everyone else came up with and improve them. It was enjoyable to learn each others and put it together too.

Lesson 3

In this lesson our class split into two groups. So some people wanted to research their scrapbooks or do blogger while 6 of us (Rashna, Sara, Jaydeep, Minhazul, Rajan, and Aditi) went into the broadcasting studio to work up a new dance routine which we could add to our previous one.
It took us a lot of time to settle down because we couldn’t get any signal to play the music in the studio so we had to download it onto someone’s phone and play it from there. But we finally got our song (Jai Ho) and started on you tube to work out a new routine.

We kept arguing about what our first dance move should be so when Miss Hainstock came in, she helped us by starting us off with the first move and then we went ahead to work out the rest ourselves. I think it was a lot quicker to get ourselves started because we were all comfortable around each other and not embarrassed.
Initially it was a supposed to be a beat of 8 counts but later when we put it all together including our first dance lesson, it was 24 counts.
At first we were coming up with silly ideas but later we developed the steps into a danceable routine.
Boys and Girls stood in a separated line and during the routine we collided and formed one line. Our dance consisted of 3 different dance moves which we made up in the lesson which we added onto our routine from lesson 1.We were all happy with this position and it was a lot of fun to do, also we were very proud of coming up with this step. At the end of the lesson, we showed it to Miss Hainstock and Miss Eyres.

Traditional Bollywood Dancers

Lesson 2

In this lesson we got to try out different types of dance styles such as Bhangra or classical indian dance. In the beginning of the lesson we practiced our routine from the first lesson to refresh our memory and to teach the routine to the people who wern't here before.
After the class taught the dance to Sanita and Imma who missed our 1st lesson of Bollywood dancing because of College, we got into groups of 3-4 so we could explore different dance steps and add them into our routine. In my group, it was me, Sanita and Rajan. We were told to make up a 2 dance steps of 8 counts so we went on youtube and started to look up basic Bhangra steps. This was really interesting since i dont know much about any kind of indian dancing so getting to look up Bhangra dance was new to me. We went though a couple of videos before selecting our final two dance steps which was a mixture of Bollywood and Bhangra. I also got to find out the difference between the two which is that Bhangra is a lot more upbeat and jumpy whereas Bollywood dance is more precise and uses the hands and hips a lot more. We practiced it a couple of times before showing Miss Hainstock. Later when all the groups were finished we showed the whole class our 8 count routine which they learnt aswell. We didnt have time to watch the other groups dance steps which i was looking forward to but it was still a good lesson.

Performing Arts Beal High Intro Blog

Our first Bollywood dance lesson was very exciting and entertaining.
First I was very nervous as i had never done any kind of indian dancing before and i didn't feel comfortable  dancing in front of the whole class.
We had a year 12 student come in and try to teach us some easy basic bollywood dance steps to Indian music for half the lesson. Then Miss Hasinstock started doing warm ups with us, making ups steps on the spot to the indian song Jai Ho. We found a dance tutorial from youtube of this song which helped us start our real dance routine.
Although i found it hard to keep up with the lady but after a couple of times running through the steps it was more fun than hard.
I enjoyed watching the boys trying to dance.
I think out of the teachers and youtube tutorial i found the tutorial was fun but quite hard as it used actual bollywood steps whereas the warm ups were quite basic.
This was very exciting because by this time, everyone was comfortable around each other and wasnt shy with each other. The best part of the lesson was when the other media teachers came to watch us and then they actually joined in and learnt the tutorial. It was jokes watching all the teachers doing bollywood especially Miss Harris.
